2019.12.13

The contract signing ceremony for the Aviation Medicine Building New Construction Turnkey Project at Tri-Service General Hospital Songshan Branch was recently held. Witnessed by Lieutenant General Chen, Director General of the Medical Affairs Bureau, Ministry of National Defense, the contract was signed between Colonel Hung, Superintendent of the Songshan Branch, and the awarded turnkey contractor. The project, known as the “Xiang Medical Project,” was scheduled to commence construction in 2020, with completion targeted for the end of 2022.

The Aviation Medicine Building will support government healthcare policies and aviation medicine missions in the future, undertaking the important responsibilities of providing medical care for flight safety and safeguarding the lives and health of military personnel and civilians in the surrounding community.

The project is funded through a special investment program of the Ministry of National Defense. The “Xiang Medical Project” was initiated in December 2016, and the contract was awarded on November 6 of the same year to a joint venture comprising Shih Chiu Construction & Engineering Co., Ltd. (lead contractor), Jin Hong Air Conditioning Engineering Co., Ltd., and Tsai Ta-Kuan Architects & Associates. The facility will include the Department of Aviation Medicine and Health Examination Center, an emergency department, an intensive care center, operating rooms, 320 acute care general ward beds, and a central sterile supply department. A parking tower will also be constructed to integrate the power and utility systems required for the medical building, thereby enhancing overall healthcare service quality.

The new Aviation Medicine Building aims to provide more comprehensive medical facilities and equipment. The overall campus design emphasizes the rational separation of acute and chronic care services, integration of open spaces with park-like landscaping, enhanced comfort in patient–physician interactions, clearly defined infection control circulation routes, energy-efficient building materials and mechanical systems, and intelligent medical logistics and management functions. The project will also incorporate a smart ward service system, including advanced intelligent wards, to deliver holistic, multidisciplinary healthcare services and continue to uphold the hospital’s core values of service, trust, care, and innovation.
